This page will detail the latest news on Karl's Campaign as well as where you can go to sign the petition in person.

Campaign News
The purpose of this site is to raise the awareness of Karl's Campaign.
Karl's Campaign has been created in memory of the death of Karl Bond who was tragically killed whilst crossing a road near his home in Digmoor, Skelmersdale.

The aim of the campaign is to :-

1. Reduce the speed limit throughout the built-up areas of Skelmersdale to 30 MPH from 40 MPH.

2. Introduce more speed cameras in areas known as speeding hot-spots

3. Introduction of proper crossings on busy roads.

4. Caution signs to make drivers aware of designated crossing areas.

5. Raise concerns over the injustice of the road traffic accident investigations

.   2nd July 2008
                  The Campaign Team are currently reviewing it's strategies and are looking
                  to make another push to improve the road safety measures in Skelmersdale.
                  If anybody has any good suggestions or would like to help the campaign then
                  you can contact us at karlscampaign@sky.com.

                  We are also looking to improve awareness of the campaign within the
                  community. We are working with the local media to try and promote the site
                  and campaign objectives.

                from last weeks Advertiser to try to bring home the message of the impact
                of speeding.

                A big THANK YOU to everyone that turned up and participated in the  
                demonstration march. The rain was terrible but everyone kept on
                going, well done! Unfortunately Skelmersdale Fire Service was unable to
                take part on the day but we had lots of support from everyone that turned up.
                Even the drivers passing by showed their support and acknowledged the
                campaign by beeping their horns and following the march.
                A special THANK YOU must also go to both 1st Call Driving School, who's
                dirver's turned up for the event, and also to Scanachrome for providing the
                fantastic banners.

                Tomorrow's Campaign Demonstration will be attended by The North-West's  
                Labour MP, Rosie Cooper, along with supporters from the local community
                and local businesses including 1st Call Driving School and the local Fire
                Brigade. We will also have our local RoadPeace representative, Margaret
                Highton attending. The event will be covered by the media including the
                Skelmersdale Champion and ITV's Granada Reports.

.   20th March 2008
                A peaceful demonstration has been planned to take place at the scene of Karl's
                tragic death. The demonstration will take place on Friday 28th March 2008
                along Digmoor Road in Skelmersdale at 4:00 pm. Further information will be
                posted here soon. The demonstration will begin at the Fire Station in Digmoor.

                Meeting with Rosie Cooper MP to discuss Karl's Campaign and the Incident  
                Investigation. Rosie kindly gives us her full support and accepts the petition
                signatures obtained so far. The total is currently up to 2217, with more forms
                still to collect.

                Today is the Anniversay of Karl's tragic death. A memorial will be
                  held today at the Quarry Bank at 4:30pm. Please say a prayer to remember
                  Karl or join us at the Quarry Bank.

              - ASDA Skelmersdale gives full support to Karl's Campaign.
                  The petition is now available to sign in-store.

              - Today would have been Karl's 9th Birthday. Please join us in
                  our prayers as we remember a lovely little boy who was
                  tragically taken from us.

              -   Memoriam to be held today at St. Francis Of Assisi.

              -   St. Francis Of Assisi Primary School & Woodland Community
                  Primary School have now joined Karl's Campaign to show
                  their support.
